2Co 9:15 Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift.
I would like to take a moment to speak about this unspeakable gift. In 2Co 9 Paul speaks to the Corinthians about sharing with the saints and then he sums it all up in verse 15 by comparing the believer's acts of giving with what God did in giving his son.
Rom 8:32 He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?
Jesus Christ is the unspeakable gift that Paul is referring too. All of God's gift are wrapped up in Christ. Without Him we get the wrath of God, but with Him we get such gifts as Grace, Mercy, Faith, His Righteousness, Justification, Sanctification, Eternal Life, the Indwelling Spirit, Hope, Redemption, Humility, Salvation, Meekness, Peace. Wisdom, Creation, Heaven, the Bible, Belief in Him, Love, Holiness, Repentance, Worship, Rejoicing, Prayer, the Fulfillment of a Scripture, Delivered from the Wrath of God, Forgiveness, Assurance, Faithfulness, Justice, the Law, His Glory, Freedom from Sin, Fellowship, Thanksgiving, Boldness, the Gospel, Truth, Praise, Fruit, Deliverance, Knowledge, a Future, Reconciliation, the Church, Joy, the Resurrection, and so much more.
The above list is incomplete and no doubt you have already thought of many I missed. In fact we have only scratched the surface of God's gift of Jesus Christ. The word "unspeakable" in the Greek means "not expounded in full", we are unable to understand nor explain in full this great gift. Our God is amazing, all powerful and full of glory; and when He gives a gift, it is as big as He is. It will take us this lifetime and the next to examine the full extent of this one single gift, Jesus Christ.
As you think about giving and receiving gifts this Christmas season, don't forget to share God's Unspeakable Gift with others. It is truly the only gift that does keep on giving.
